Principal Consultant and Capability Leader at BSG, Sachin Ram-Asary shared insights around sustaining business performance through the optimisation of an organisation’s Employee Value Proposition at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) Raise the Bar: Future of Consulting conference. The event, which took place at GIBS’s Illovo campus on 23 July 2015, focused on the need for the consulting industry to “adapt or die” as it faces the power of disruptive innovation.

Sachin’s presentation touched on a number of ways in which consulting firms, and businesses in general, can optimise their EVP in order to maximise sustainable growth via their employees. Many organisations spend millions of Rands and large amounts of time each year crafting and focusing on their Customer Value Proposition (CVP), and controlling the levers associated with their perceptions of what drives growth, when in fact sustainability is largely underpinned by factors relating to their EVP. Employees form the basis of sustainable, evolving, adaptable and growing businesses, provided they possess the means, ability and accountability to drive the growth outcomes of those businesses. Building a strong Employee Value Proposition, through a focus on coaching, mentoring, learning and engagement will ultimately lead to the creation of a platform for driving sustainable CVP success and business growth, via the virtuous cycle.

BSG’s Employee Value Proposition

As a niche consulting and technology company with almost two decades’ experience, BSG has had many years to consider and craft its EVP and comes from a position of strength in this regard. BSG’s continued commitment to optimising its EVP stems from its belief that happy employees are more productive. BSG’s Employee Value Proposition is founded on a belief in holistic wellness, a focus on continuous learning and career development, as well as its unique perspective on graduate and experienced hire recruitment and retention.

BSG’s People Effectiveness Executive, Susan Reis, who played a big part in the founding of BSG some 18 years ago, is the driving force behind its distinctive Employee Value Proposition. “BSG is proud of its employee value proposition,” Susan stated recently, “it centres around empowered leadership and a fast-paced business environment where employees deal with complex problems and systems every day. BSG has a deep belief that its culture of unlocking contribution and accelerating careers has a strong resonance with people looking to create a difference – for themselves, their clients and the broader communities in which we operate.”

With its proud history of optimising its EVP, BSG was uniquely positioned to deliver insights of this nature with delegates at the GIBS conference.
